IMPORTANT! Major Security Update - Newsletter 2.2.4

Monday, February 4th, 2008

I’ve been notified of a major security vulnerability in the Newsletter plugin that has the potential for ill-intentioned users to preform an SQL Injection and reveal your administrator name and password hash - this is not your actual password, but the encrypted one stored in the database.  If your admin account has a strong password you have nothing to worry about, but it is possible to crack weak passwords using this method.  So I recommend you not only update your Newsletter Plugin to version 2.2.4 but also make sure you are using a strong password as well on your Admin account.  Sorry for the issue loyal users, but I guess I’ve hit the big-time now that I’ve been targeted for exploits!

Newsletter 2.1.9 Minor Update

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

I’ve released a bug fix update (2.1.9) to the plugin to tide everyone over until the new year.  I was hoping to have version 3 ready before Christmas, but I’ve run out of time.   I’m leaving for holidays on Friday, so this update should solve a lot of the minor bugs many of you are experiencing until I return.  I will be unavailable for email support requests from Dec 15 - Jan 1, 2008 - so if you have any questions, ask now!  Happy Holidays!

Support Forums are not working out

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

NOTICE: The support forum is not working and is now offline. A new system for support is in development. I apologize to all who have posted and remain unanswered. All Newsletter plugin support and questions should be temporarily addressed via my Contact Form in the interim.

BEFORE contacting me for support, please make sure you are using the latest version of the Newsletter Plugin from the My Paid Plugins page.

Also, if you cannot send emails via the Swift Sendmail, try the following settings under Swift SMTP as it seems to be more compatible with many servers:

Server: localhost
Username/Password: None
Port: 25
TLS/SSL: No

There is a big development for the Newsletter plugin in the works, and though it’s taking me way too long to accomplish, it’s getting there. So there is big things to come. I thank you for your support and encouragement during this hectic time.

Unfortunately, due to this severe limitation of my time, I cannot provide addequate support for any of my free plugins. They are all long overdue for an upgrade, but I don’t have the time right now.

Thank you for your patience and I look forward to making ShiftThis the best it can be for you! Cheers!

Newsletter v2.1.8

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Another minor update with a couple of helpful new features.

  • Subscriber Search (thank you devil1591)
  • Subscribe URI Override - this will help those of you having problems with the subscribe form using an incorrect URL.

Also note that the previous release did not have the correct download link so if you downloaded 2.1.7, then you may likely still be running 2.1.6 - it’s all fixed now for this version though!

Newsletter v2.1.7

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Another minor update:

  • Added Error Logging on Sending in Option page.  This will show all sending logs in a black box on the Send page while you send.
  • Fixed Embed Images problem - I’m not 100% on it yet, but it seems to be working for me - let me know if you have issues.

I should be able to get more work done this weekend as well, so check back frequently for updates!

As usual, all updates are available on the My Paid Plugins page for Newsletter Owners.

  • Ability to disable “the_content” filter from adding auto tags to your newsletters html has been add to the Options page.

Temporarily Unavailable

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

I’m heading out of town for the next few days and won’t be able to provide any support until I get back on Monday, Sept 3, 2007.  Sorry for any inconvenience, I’ll try to check in while I’m away, but likely won’t have too many opportunities.  See you then!

Newsletter v2.1.3

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

The Newsletter plugin has gone through a flurry of releases - going from v2.0.8 to 2.1.3 in just 2 days!  I think we’ve got the bugs all cleared out that have been reported and I can hopefully start adding some new features soon!  Anyway, make sure you’ve got the latest version from the My Paid Plugins page.

Also note that I’ve officially retired the 1.x branch of the Newsletter and will no longer support it.  I strongly suggest you upgrade to 2.x if you haven’t yet!  Documentation is available at docs.shiftthis.net for those of you needing some help.
